Edward Hasbrouck posts infrequently, but his blog is adept at exploring the balance between airline security and passenger privacy. A journalist and travel expert, Mr. Hasbrouck brings to the table in-depth knowledge of the travel industry. For example, he is credited with being first to report that JetBlue Airways handed over millions of reservation records to government contractors working on a secuirty project in 2002.

As a springboard for discussing airline issues, Mr. Hasbrouck likes to use episodes of The Amazing Race , a CBS reality show in which contestants race around the world. After a team on the show missed a flight from Moscow because of problems with a computerized reservation system, Mr. Hasbrouck commented on the advantages of paper versus electronic tickets.
